Job summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Critical Care Float Pool with a day shift. You will gain competencies in Emergency Department care and neuro-progressive care, and work across Critical Care areas at the region’s Level I trauma center.

The role emphasizes compassionate patient and family care, collaboration with the nursing team, and applying sound nursing judgment to plan and deliver care.

Qualifications

• Nurse must be a graduate of a professional nursing program (Diploma/AD/BSN).
• Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational and time-management skills.
• Knowledge of quality concepts and problem-solving in nursing quality improvement.

Responsibilities

• Implements physician orders, administers medications, starts IVs, performs treatments and tests, documents care.
• Orders or interprets diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
• Assesses patient needs and responses to care; applies nursing judgment.
• Provides primary and emergency care for injuries and illnesses; administers meds as ordered.
• Collaborates with the nursing team to plan care for all patients.
• Directs ancillary staff and maintains professional nursing standards.
