Job summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Critical Care Float Pool. This role offers exposure to Neuro-Surgical Trauma ICU, Medical ICU, Coronary Care Unit, Cardiovascular ICU, and MSICU, with opportunities to expand competencies in ED care and neuro-progressive care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a professional nursing program with a diploma, associate or bachelor's degree.
• Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
• BLS and ACLS certifications.
• 1–3 years of Med-Surg or Progressive Care RN experience.
• Strong communication, prioritization, organizational and time-management skills.
• Knowledge of quality concepts and problem-solving in patient care QA.

Responsibilities

• Implements physician orders, administers medications, starts IVs, performs treatments and documents care as required.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' conditions.
• Assesses and evaluates patient needs and responses to care rendered.
• Applies Nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
• Provides primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Administers OTC and prescribed medications as ordered.
• Collaborates with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
• Directs and guides ancillary personnel and maintains professional nursing standards.
