Job summary

St. David's North Austin Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Critical Care Float Pool. You will assess patients, plan and implement care, and oversee non-licensed personnel. Responsibilities include documentation, medication administration, venipuncture, IV management, and ensuring continuity of care during shift changes.

The role requires 2 years of ICU experience, an ADN, TX RN license or Compact with 90-day timing, and BLS/ACLS/NIHSS; CATN/TNCC within 1 year is also expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in an Intensive Care Unit.
• ADN from an accredited Nursing program.
• Current State of Texas Registered Nurse license or Compact RN license; if Compact, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• BLS certification required by policy.
• ACLS certification required.
• NIHSS certification required within 60 days of hire.
• CATN or TNCC certification completed within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments at admission and develop a care plan.
• Direct, monitor, and evaluate care delegated to non-licensed team members.
• Document nursing interventions and patient responses.
• Provide educational materials to patients and families.
• Administer medications and complete treatments per policy.
• Perform venipuncture and manage IV fluids/medications.
• Review physician orders and ensure proper execution and communication.
• Notify charge nurse/physician of changes in patient status.
• Provide shift handoff reports to ensure continuity of care.
