Job summary

St. David's North Austin Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Critical Care Float Pool. The RN will perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop and evaluate plans of care, administer medications, and supervise non-licensed staff to ensure safe, effective care.

The role emphasizes timely documentation, patient education, and coordinated handoffs to maintain continuity across shifts within a high-acuity ICU environment.

Qualifications

• Two years of ICU nursing experience.
• ADN from an accredited nursing program.
• Current Texas RN license or Compact license (within 90 days).
• BLS required by policy.
• ACLS certification required.
• NIHSS certification required within 60 days of hire.
• CATN or TNCC certification within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document patient assessments at admission.
• Develop and revise the plan of care, including discharge planning.
• Document outcomes of interventions and patient responses.
• Provide educational materials to patients and families.
• Administer medications and complete treatments per policy.
• Perform venipuncture and IV therapy.
• Review orders and ensure correct execution and communication.
• Notify charge nurse or physician of status changes.
• Provide shift reports to ensure continuity of care.
