Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for the Medical Stepdown Unit. The NP/PA delivers high-acuity inpatient care under physician supervision, with autonomous assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge planning for adult patients.

The role involves collaboration with Critical Care Medicine, Hospital Medicine and Pulmonary/Critical Care, ensuring timely care transitions and documentation in CDI-compliant charts.

Qualifications

• Graduate NP program approved by the State of New York.
• Current NP certification from either the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
• Current New York State license as registered nurse and NP.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Assesses/reassesses patients and develops care plans.
• Orders and interprets tests and results; orders medications and treatments.
• Documents care, discharge planning, and communications with the care team.
• Initiates consults and coordinates with physicians, case managers and staff.
• Performs perioperative and trauma-related assessments as needed.
• Rounds with the medical team and participates in care transitions.
