Job summary

Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center seeks an Advanced Practice Professional for the Medical Surgical Step-Down Unit. The APP will provide direct patient care, perform exams, order studies, prescribe interventions, and coordinate care and discharge for complex medical/surgical patients.

The role operates under a 24-hour coverage model divided among multiple APPs, with twelve-hour shifts, and requires NP or PA certification and NJ license, along with DEA/CDS, ACLS and BLS credentials.

Qualifications

• Master's degree as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant from an accredited program.
• NP or PA Certification and NJ License is required.
• DEA and CDS is required.
• ACLS and BLS required.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of Critical Care or Step-Down Unit experience is preferred.
• Must have excellent communication and computer skills.
• Strong work ethic and a team player who can work independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide /coordinate clinical care for medical and surgical stepdown patients.
• Round daily on patients to assess, diagnose, plan treatment, set priorities and outcomes.
• Assess patients for change in status and institute appropriate interventions.
• Initiates emergency interventions to stabilize the patient when appropriate.
• Communicate pertinent patient information to provider team, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers.
• Document in the patients' chart all relevant data including test results and patient response to therapies.
