Job summary

Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC) seeks a Mental Health Specialist II for the Crisis Receiving Stabilization Center (CRSC) in Newark. You will support clinical services, triage calls, and ensure accurate documentation in a fast-paced, on-site setting.

The role requires four years of related experience or a Bachelor's in a mental health field, plus a valid driver’s license. Rotating shifts, Union Teamsters 97, and comprehensive benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of relevant full-time paid experience in a mental health field OR a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must possess adequate written and verbal skills and documentation ability.
• Experience in crisis or inpatient settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone calls from consumers and triage.
• Perform initial triage within five minutes of arrival and report to the Program Manager.
• Complete required documentation and adhere to handoff protocols.
• Manage telephone calls from other facilities and emergency rooms; provide information to staff.
• Assist consumers and/or families with registration paperwork as required.
• Support Duty to Warn notifications in coordination with the Program Manager.
• Maintain a respectful, professional environment for all clients and staff.
