Job summary

Gulf Coast JFCS in Saint Petersburg, FL is hiring a Community Navigator to provide crisis intervention and rapid support to adults, children and families in coordination with local law enforcement and community resources. The role involves in-person responses, risk assessment, referral and linkage to services, and safe transportation to care settings.

A bachelor’s degree in a human services field is required, with additional training and beneficial experience in mental health or substance use

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field required.
• Experience in crisis intervention, mental health, or substance abuse preferred.
• Computer experience including Microsoft Office and EHRs.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of community resources.
• Valid driver’s license with auto insurance.
• CPR and First-Aid certification required/maintained.
• Scenario-Based Training with St. Petersburg Police Department.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person response to active 911 calls and engage adults, children, and families.
• Assess risk to self, others, and ability to care for themselves.
• Provide information, referral and follow-up for community services.
• Respond to Officer Referrals and link clients to services.
• Coordinate with clients and providers to meet needs.
• Transport clients to hospitals, shelters, or appointments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
