Job summary

Quiet Storm Crisis Triage Living Room in Hazel Crest, IL, is seeking a Recovery Support Specialist for a full-time 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. shift.

The RSS will provide peer support to Guests with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders, using trauma-informed, client-centered de-escalation techniques. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED with 2,000 hours paid/supervised experience, lived recovery experience, and a CRSS within one year (preferred).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 2,000 hours paid/supervised work experience.
• Personal lived experience with mental health illness and recovery of at least one year.
• CRSS certification preferred, or ability to obtain CRSS within one year.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support and de-escalate crisis using trauma-informed, client-centered approaches.
• Coordinate activities and tasks to help Guests regain control of recovery.
• Create a welcoming, calm Living Room environment for Guests.
• Educate and model recovery strategies, coping techniques, and self-help skills.
• Support Guests in developing Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP).
• Promote self-advocacy and reduce stigma through empowerment.
• Transport Guests to locations within Chicagoland as needed.
