Job summary

Thresholds-Inc in Illinois is seeking a Crisis Support Specialist to assist Living Room guests during mental health crises, using lived experience to provide advocacy, information, and peer support.

You will greet guests, model coping strategies, help develop recovery plans, link to services, and participate in training. Friday–Saturday 6:45am–3:15pm; Sunday–Tuesday 2:45pm–11:15pm. Competitive pay and strong benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Lived experience of mental health recovery.
• Effective communication and relationship-building.
• Strong time management and organization.
• To be at least 21 years old.
• Ability to work assigned schedule: Friday & Saturday 6:45am - 3:15pm, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 2:45pm-11:15pm.

Responsibilities

• Support and educate Living Room guests on managing crisis.
• Engage guests to hear stories, learn interests and strengths.
• Model coping strategies and help develop recovery plans.
• Link guests with supportive services for after crisis.
• Greet guests, learn their names, and invite them to set recovery paths.
• Prepare food for guests and keep the space neat.
