Job summary

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD is seeking a Licensed Therapist (LPHA) to join the Youth Crisis Outreach Team (YCOT) in Houston, TX. The LPHA will perform crisis assessments, provide crisis counseling, and collaborate on treatment plans with consumers to improve safety and outcomes.

Requirements include a Master’s degree in a social/human services field and Texas licensure (LCSW/LPC/LMFT) with 2+ years in a mental health setting.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a social/behavioral/human services field (psychology, social work, counseling, sociology, etc.).
• Must have Texas licensure: LCSW, LPC or LMFT.
• Must have 2+ years in a mental health setting.
• Demonstrates crisis intervention knowledge and ethical practice.

Responsibilities

• Perform community-based crisis assessments to determine level of care and safety.
• Provide crisis counseling and intervention to reduce symptoms and prevent admission.
• Collaboratively develop a treatment plan with the consumer.
• Provide case management to access needed care and services.
• Monitor progress toward treatment goals and linkage to services.
• Educate family members about symptoms, treatment, and resources.
• Explain medications and treatment compliance to individuals and families.
• Complete daily electronic documentation for the medical record.
• Follow trauma-informed principles in interactions and maintain productivity standards.
• Be prepared for weekly crisis staff duties (referrals, calls, urgent responses).
• Assist as needed and adapt to changing requirements.
