Job summary

Coleman Health Services is seeking a crisis counselor to provide crisis intervention and behavioral health services in Ohio. You will use triage, engagement, and trauma-informed approaches to support individuals in crisis and coordinate with a multidisciplinary team for comprehensive care.

Qualified candidates hold an Ohio license (LPC/LSW/LPCC/LISW or higher) and are willing to obtain required credentials.

• Active Ohio licensure in LPC, LSW, LPCC, LISW or higher

Responsibilities

• Fostering crisis intervention using triage, engagement, assessment and trauma-informed interventions
• Complete crisis assessments at the crisis center and support community response assessments as needed
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to connect individuals with inpatient/outpatient health and behavioral health services
• Determine need for higher level of care and coordinate referrals to hospitals and resources
• Answer crisis calls from community and systems of care
• Maintain relationships with community referral sources and hospitals
• Track data for mental health boards and state requirements
• Complete training to become a community health officer

Job Duties:

• Use triage, engagement, assessment and trauma-informed behavioral health interventions to foster crisis intervention
• Complete crisis assessments at the crisis center and be available for community response assessments as needed, support individuals with risk assessment screening, and provide assessment support as needed to the Crisis Receiving Unit and Crisis Stabilization Unit
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to connect individuals with both inpatient and outpatient healthcare and behavioral health care services.
• Determine need for a higher level of care and coordinate referrals to hospitals and community resources.
• Answer crisis calls from community members and systems of care
• Maintain a collaborative relationship within community referral sources, hospitals and community stakeholders
• Track required data for mental health board and state requirements
• Complete training to become a community health officer

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters prepared with an active Ohio License of Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Social Worker LSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or higher
• Willing to obtain NPI and Medicaid Provider number (we'll help!)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Past or current work experience in an emergency room, community behavioral health or crisis intervention setting
• Past or current experience in motivational interviewing, crisis intervention and trauma informed care.
