Job summary

Ramsey County Attorney's Office is seeking a licensed attorney to provide legal services to the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners and other county boards and departments. The role includes prosecuting criminal cases, civil representation, and handling child support, family law, and commitment matters.

The position includes a flexible workplace policy with in-office requirements and a hybrid schedule, allowing two days per week in the office with remote work flexibility.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited college of law.
• Experience: Three years of experience as a practicing attorney.
• Licensure: Licensed to practice law in Minnesota and continuing legal education requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cases for judicial and administrative proceedings by interviewing clients and witnesses, researching law, drafting pleadings, and preparing briefs.
• Try criminal or civil cases and represent the county at hearings; advise on appeals as needed.
• Advise less experienced staff attorneys on trial strategies and review legal work.
• Negotiate contracts, leases, or settlements while evaluating client needs and cost considerations.
• Analyze legislation and case law to maintain current knowledge in relevant areas of law.
• Prepare legal opinions and plan litigation to resolve issues and guide future matters.
