Job summary

City of Maypearl is seeking a Crime Scene Technician to locate, label, collect, and preserve evidence at crime scenes, traffic fatalities, and search warrants. The role requires on-call responses, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Essential duties include processing scenes for latent prints, photographing scenes, and assisting with investigations. Qualifications include a High School Diploma and 3 years of full-time crime scene experience, plus coursework in forensic science or

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• One year (30 semester hours) of forensic science, criminal justice, or related field, from an accredited college, or equivalent experience.
• Applicant must pass background check, oral board, polygraph, and psychological exam.

Responsibilities

• Respond to crime scenes and on-call situations as scheduled.
• Process scenes for latent prints and collect evidence with strict chain of custody.
• Photograph crime scenes, fatalities, and other incidents; testify as an expert witness when required.
• Prepare evidence for laboratory analysis and submit to crime labs as needed.
• Perform basic crime scene processing including chemical methods and alternate light sources.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Criminal justice or forensic science coursework (1 year/30 semester hours)
