Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must pass extensive background check and polygraph
• Familiarity with evidence handling policies

Responsibilities

• Gathers, transports, analyzes, and stores evidence from crime scenes per department policies
• Collects and evaluates latent fingerprints and compares to databases per procedures
• Provides technical support and training for property and evidence handling
• Reads and interprets criminal codes and policies to ensure proper legal action
• Prepares documentation and testifies in various courts as needed
• Attends courses and trainings to enhance knowledge and abilities
• Maintains evidence processing supplies and equipment
• Responds to public inquiries and maintains professional community relations
• Develops relationships with local, state, and federal agencies
• Operates city vehicles in compliance with Texas law and department rules
• Communicates clearly in writing and verbally
• Follows safety guidelines and departmental policies
• Performs other duties as assigned
