Green Shield Deck Builders in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking an Assistant Crew Leader to oversee day-to-day deck construction, support a 3-person crew, and drive quality and safety on every project.

This full-time, year-round W-2 role offers reliable hours, daily travel to residential sites, leadership growth, and a company vehicle for advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Reliable personal vehicle required.
• Willingness to travel daily to residential build sites within a 150 mile radius.
• At least 3 years of experience in construction, landscaping, or general labor.
• Preferred 1+ years of carpentry, framing, or trim experience.
• At least 1 year of leadership or management experience.
• Ability to work full-time Mon–Fri with occasional overtime.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Assist and Lead and support the day-to-day work of a 3-person crew
• Build high-quality residential decks from start to finish
• Execute advanced construction tasks (framing, measuring, cutting, assembly)
• Ensure safety, efficiency, and quality standards are met on every job
• Train and mentor Crew I and II team members
• Travel to residential job sites daily
• Maintain clean, organized, and productive job sites

What You’ll Do
