Job summary

Back to Basics Learning Dynamics in the Wilmington, DE area seeks Creole interpreters to interpret for IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and medical evaluations. Interpreters must have daytime availability and can set their own schedule, with mileage paid for each assignment.

Candidates should have at least 1 year of professional interpreting experience, be prepared for a proficiency test if needed, and undergo required background checks.

Qualifications

• Documentation showing proficiency in languages other than English, or willingness to take a test.
• Willing to undergo background checks (federal, state, and Child Abuse Registry).

Responsibilities

• Interpret for schools, state agencies, attorneys, and medical appointments.
• Create your own schedule; accept and decline jobs around your schedule.
• Available for at least 6 hours per week between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
• Mileage paid for every job and late cancellations compensated.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Candidates are preferred to have documentation showing proficiency in languages other than English.If documentation is not available, candidates might be asked to complete a proficiency test.
• Candidates MUST have at least 1 year of professional interpreting experience on their resume.Language proficiency alone is NOT sufficient. Volunteer interpreting for a school or church, or interpreting as part of job duties, will be considered.
• Must be willing to get a background check, including Federal, State, and Child Abuse Registry
• Must have reliable phone service for contact.
