Job summary

Carrier is seeking a Lead Designer to translate engineering requirements into manufacturable product designs in Charlotte, NC. The role focuses on advanced CAD modeling, layout development, and design validation for NPD and sustaining engineering with onsite execution.

You will review designs, mentor junior designers, and collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality to ensure design intent is achieved while supporting offshore resources as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of product design experience in an engineering environment or 3+ years with an Associate’s degree.
• 2+ years of Creo Parametric experience in complex modeling, assemblies and drawing development.
• 2+ years maintaining large assembly structures and engineering documentation using Creo.
• 2+ years reviewing 3D models, drawings and CAD driven BOMs for accuracy.
• 2+ years of top-down design methodologies and CAD driven BOMs.
• 1+ years of working knowledge of engineering release processes and Creo sheet metal design.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine CAD models, layouts, assemblies, and detailed designs.
• Translate requirements and direction into practical design solutions.
• Lead packaging, integration, fit-up, and manufacturability evaluations.
• Perform detailed design reviews of models, drawings, BOMs, and docs.
• Support top-down structures and product architectures.
• Collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to resolve issues.
• Mentor less experienced designers and provide technical guidance.
