Kimball Midwest, a national distributor of maintenance, repair, and operations products, is seeking a Credit Specialist I for our Columbus, OH location. You will collaborate with Sales to evaluate and approve credit applications and manage credit limits.

The role emphasizes thorough credit investigations using Experian and Dun & Bradstreet, resolving holds, and communicating with Sales to minimize order disruption.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience as a credit specialist preferred.
• MRO or B2B credit experience preferred.
• Experience with Experian or similar credit data tools preferred.
• Strong phone communication and confidentiality required.
• Proven ability to read and understand credit information.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with Sales to evaluate and approve customer credit applications.
• Resolves credit holds to speed order processing.
• Conducts credit investigations using Dun & Bradstreet, Experian, online sources, and references.
• Handles escalated credit approvals promptly with minimal disruption to operations.
• Monitors credit exception reports and communicates with Sales on held orders.
• Reviews and adjusts credit limits as needs evolve.
• Prepares and submits credit refund requests for review and approval.
• Generates and distributes accounts receivable statements on request.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Credit Supervisor, Credit & Collections Manager, or Controller.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the Sales team to evaluate and approve customer credit applications, ensuring alignment with company credit policies
• Resolves credit hold issues to facilitate timely order processing
• Conducts thorough credit investigations using Dun & Bradstreet, Experian, online resources, and customer-provided references to assess creditworthiness and establish appropriate credit limits
• Handles escalated credit approval matters promptly and professionally, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations
• Monitors credit exception reports and proactively communicates with Sales Representatives to determine appropriate actions on held orders, considering customer history, payment behavior, and credit terms
• Reviews and adjusts credit limits for accounts with evolving credit needs, ensuring limits reflect current financial standing and business requirements
• Prepares and submits credit refund requests to the Credit Manager for review and approval, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal procedures
• Generates and distributes accounts receivable statements upon customer request, supporting transparency and timely payment
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Credit Supervisor, Credit & Collections Manager, or Controller

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Previous credit specialist or similar experience preferred
• Previous MRO experience preferred
• Previous B2B credit experience is preferred
• Previous experience with Experian or similar is preferred
• The ability to perform extensive work over the phone
• Intermediate computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications
• The ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
• The ability to read and write small letters and numbers; the ability to make arithmetic calculations; and the ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
• The successful completion of a ninety (90) day orientation period

Additional Information

This is a Monday- Friday role. The shifts are 8 hours with a rotating schedule between the hours of 8:00am-6:00pm.
