Job summary

Rochester Art Center is seeking a Program Assistant to support our program team. This part-time, non-exempt role (25–30 hours/week) starts at $18/hour and reports to the Program Director.

The position includes coordinating, staffing, and assisting with public and private workshops, classes, artist talks, and virtual programs. The role supports Creative Studio and Total Arts Day Camp, helps prepare spaces and materials, and works on site with youth ages 5–12 in the summer.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience in education, museums, art services or related work preferred.
• Ability to communicate in English and establish effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Program Director to coordinate, staff, and support the successful delivery of Art Center programs.
• Help facilitate, set up, and strike public and private workshops, classes, artist talks, and virtual programs.
• Foster a welcoming environment and a sense of belonging for all Art Center visitors, staff, volunteers, teaching artists, and program participants.
• Prepare program spaces, materials, and supplies and help keep classroom studios organized, stocked, and ready for use.
• Assist with programs and events both on and off site as needed.
• Secure the building and ensure proper building security when responsible for closing.
