Job summary

The Michaels Companies is seeking a part-time Party & Event Host for our Grand Rapids location. The role involves planning and coordinating events within the store, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes, while delivering friendly customer service and engaging guests of all ages.

You will demonstrate crafts, assist with checkout, and ensure a fun, safe environment. Flexibility to work nights and weekends is preferred; prior retail or children's events experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and listening abilities.
• Experience working with children and organizing events is preferred.
• Ability to stay organized, multitask, and handle busy store environments.
• Retail or customer service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multiple events within the Michaels store, including kids’ parties and craft classes.
• Demonstrate and guide participants through crafts and activities.
• Perform face painting and other kid-friendly activities as needed.
• Facilitate party add-ons and upsell products per company standards.
• Communicate event details with clients and store team members; handle follow-up communications.
