Job summary

H-E-B is seeking a Cake Decorator to apply decorating techniques and maintain product quality following guidelines. You will prepare, package, and merchandise fresh bakery items daily while upholding food safety standards.

Responsibilities include taking cake orders, assisting customers, applying icing, and ensuring products meet VTAs for showcase timing. The role emphasizes strong service, teamwork, and safe, accurate operations in a fast-paced retail bakery.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ year of experience required.
• HS Diploma or GED or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of computer systems and equipment (e.g., PC, symbol, scales, label machine) required.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
• Reading and writing skills and planning/organization required.
• Completion of Company Orientation required; Safety training required; Ecommerce Online Ordering training upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides superior customer service and takes cake orders by telephone or in person with high accuracy.
• Applies proper decorating techniques to produce quality cakes and pastries per visual training aids.
• Writes on cakes with icing and follows daily production list through cake flow.
• Ensures quality control of all products before sending to sales floor per VTAs.
• Prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product; labels and rotates products; records production and shrink for planning.
• Maintains sanitation and complies with food safety and department procedures.
