Job summary

Lowes Foods seeks a friendly and reliable Bakery Clerk to greet guests, prepare bakery products, and maintain freshness and presentation of items in-store. You will support cake decorating, labeling, and ensure cleanliness across the bakery and cold storage areas.

This role requires strong guest service and teamwork within a fast-paced retail environment. Responsibilities include assisting customers, following cake production sheets, and supporting management with daily tasks and merchandising.

Qualifications

• Friendly, outgoing personality.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Able to lift 25 lbs consistently and 50 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to read and understand information and direction.
• Effective communication, guest service and selling skills.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to bend, kneel and stand for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Provide polite, friendly greetings and interactions with guests.
• Prepare product for sale (icing, decorating, packaging and labeling).
• Maintain product level, quality and freshness.
• When requested perform bakery clerk functions.
• Maintain sanitation standards in the cooler, freezer, prep area and sales area.
• Properly clean work area, couplers and decorating bags.
• Maintain the organization of the freezer, including proper rotation of product.
• Communicate guest requests to management.
• Communicate temperature breakdowns to supervisor.
• Keeps supply area neat, clean and tidy at all times.
• Properly rotates icings and reads dates.
• Use cake production sheet.
• Write on cakes.
• Master the use of the airbrush.
• Achieve budgeted sales, shrink and profits for the cake section of the bakery.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
• Performs Front Porch duties to ensure “guest arrival” standard is maintained.
• Announce specials and sale info on the PA system.
• Assist in product receiving and storage.
