Job summary

Whole Foods Market Charlotte is seeking a skilled Bakery Decorator to create and decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items. You’ll apply artistic talents to finish products while meeting our quality standards and customer expectations.

This role emphasizes safe food handling, teamwork, and timely service within a fast-paced bakery. Experience in decorator apprenticeships or bakery settings is preferred, with flexibility for shifts including nights or weekends.

Qualifications

• Efficient cake and pastry decorating skills, including intermediate piping techniques and ability to create decorative flowers and borders.
• Knowledge of color theory for blending icing colors and coordinating palettes.
• Ability to follow recipes and procedures with strong time management and organization.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and finish/decorate cakes, tarts, select pastries, and special-order items.
• Build, ice, and decorate cakes following standard procedures and record production.
• Prioritize production lists and adjust as needed.
• Merchandise products in the display case and monitor freshness and rotation.
• Provide guidance to Bakery Decorator Apprentices and team members.
• Create special-order cake designs based on customer preferences.
• Deliver excellent customer service and handle phones promptly.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary work and store environment; follow safety standards.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties with accurate signage and pricing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
