Job summary

Remedy Education in Islington is seeking a Behaviour Teaching Assistant to support SEMH pupils in a specialist performing arts setting. You will work 1:1 and in small groups to use music, media or creative activities to engage, calm emotions and build positive behaviours.

Experience with children in school settings and an enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply) are required; a patient, empathetic approach and strong relationship-building skills are essential to help students progress and enjoy

Qualifications

Experience working with children or young people in a primary school, secondary school, PRU or alternative provision setting.
Background or interest in music, media, performing arts or other creative subjects.
Experience supporting students with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
Strong communication, resilience and relationship-building skills.
A patient, proactive and empathetic approach.
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.

Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH needs.
Use music, media or creative activities to engage and motivate pupils.
Support students in managing their emotions and developing positive behaviour.
Implement individual behaviour plans and tailored support strategies.
Build strong, trusting relationships with students and encourage positive engagement in learning.
Work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team to support students' progress.
Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
