Job summary

Flatbush Development Corporation is seeking an Activity Specialist for its school-based afterschool program in Brooklyn. You will design and facilitate engaging activities for students in grades K–8, focusing on youth development and structured learning aligned with DYCD/DOH/DOE guidelines.

The role emphasizes supervision, creativity, and professional growth, with opportunities to showcase student achievement through projects and performances.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Education, Youth Development, Child Development, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Experience designing and facilitating structured activities for K–8 in Art, Dance, Music Production, Reading, Math, or STEM, Chess, Robotics/Coding.
• Knowledge of youth development principles, social-emotional learning, and trauma-informed practice.
• Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and maintain a positive, professional demeanor.
• Required CPR/First Aid certification and OCFS/DYCD training compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver structured, hands-on activities for students in grades K–8.
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment during all activities.
• Foster social-emotional growth and collaboration among participants.
• Participate in mandatory trainings and stay updated on DYCD/DOH/DOE/OCFS regulations.
