Job summary

Decatur Center for Nursing and Healing seeks an experienced Activity Director to design and oversee engaging programs that support residents' social, emotional, recreational, and therapeutic well-being.

You will lead an activities calendar, coordinate with staff and volunteers, document progress, and ensure compliance with regulations while fostering a caring, creative environment for residents.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility.
• Qualifications for an Activities Director or qualified activities professional with certification or training.
• Experience planning and coordinating recreational or therapeutic activities.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Creative, energetic, and enthusiastic about resident engagement.
• Compassionate and patient with elderly residents.
• Ability to collaborate with residents, families, and staff.
• Previous CNA experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Activity Planning: create an engaging calendar of activities daily, weekly, and monthly.
• Resident Engagement: lead group and individual activities to foster social interaction.
• Personalized Activities: provide one-on-one activities for residents unable to join groups.
• Resident Well-Being: address social, emotional, recreational, and spiritual needs.
• Department Leadership: supervise Activities Department operations.
• Volunteer Coordination: recruit and manage volunteers to support activities.
• Documentation: maintain activity records and assessments including MDS.
• Compliance: ensure programs meet federal, state, and facility guidelines.
