Job summary

Americare Senior Living is seeking a creative, organized, and compassionate Activity Director to lead resident engagement programs within our skilled nursing community. You’ll plan, organize, facilitate, and direct recreational and therapeutic activities that promote residents’ physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being.

You’ll also collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure activities align with individual resident needs and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma required; additional education related to recreation, activities, or life enrichment preferred but not required.
• Previous experience planning and managing a recreational activity program in a senior living or healthcare setting preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to document accurately and collaborate with clinical and care teams.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, facilitate, and direct recreational activity programs for residents
• Develop, publish, and maintain a monthly activity calendar
• Ensure activities align with resident abilities, interests, and care plans
• Lead group and individual activities that promote engagement and socialization
• Participate in resident assessments and care planning as part of the interdisciplinary team
• Document resident participation, responses, and progress in charts and periodic reports
• Communicate resident reactions, progress, or regression to medical staff and care team members
• Coordinate special events, celebrations, and community activities
• Supervise and support activity staff and volunteers as applicable
