Job summary

Callan Marine is seeking a Crane Operator to operate the crane and other assigned equipment safely and productively. The role requires NCCCO certification and the ability to work aboard company equipment, including on remote projects.

You will conduct JSAs, drills, and maintain accurate time reporting while supporting maintenance, spares inventory, and safety initiatives. Ideal candidates have at least five years of crane experience in marine construction or dredging and can communicate

Job description

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Crane Operator will operate the crane or other assigned equipment in a safe and productive manner. Additional duties will include, but will not be limited to, conducting and attending safety meetings, JSAs, running a boat, operating other equipment, and performing maintenance duties, with the primary focus on safe overall operations aboard company equipment. The pay and duties of this position are contingent upon maintaining an NCCCO certification. This position will be under the direct supervision of the Leverman.



  • Operation of crane and other assigned equipment

  • Conducting JSAs (Job Safety Analysis) on your shift

  • Conducting monthly drills on your shift

  • Proper accounting of time for operations

  • Proper accounting of time

  • Ensure crane, barge and support equipment is maintained in accordance with the maintenance program

  • Keep inventory of spares and consumables

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS


  • A minimum of 5 years of crane experience in the marine construction and dredging industry

  • Understanding of key equipment involved in the dredging process

  • Understanding of maintenance needs of the equipment

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with little to no supervision

  • Ability to comply with safety rules and regulations.

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently

  • Ability to work away from home at remote project locations for extended durations.

  • Must be reliable and motivated.

  • Ability to obtain TWIC.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.

  • Competencies: stress management/composure, teamwork, results driven.


PREFERRED SKILLS PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, personal flotation devices (PFD's), or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.



  • Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, which may be of varying heights and access parameters.

  • Standing, stooping, twisting, bending, crouching, kneeling, squatting, climbing, or sitting repetitively and/or for long periods of time.

  • Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work.

  • Must be able to lift and carry 30lbs individually. Anything greater than 30lbs and up to 60lbs will require additional lifting means.

  • Must be able to push and pull at peak force of 150lbs.

  • Climbing stairs and/or vertical ladders of a height of 6ft or greater.

  • Working in confined work areas and/or elevated heights.

  • Adapting to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration.
