Job summary

Callan Marine Ltd. is seeking a Port Engineer to assist the Vessel Manager with equipment management and maintenance for dredge-related assets in Galveston, TX.

The role operates on a two-and-one schedule, rotating with the Vessel Manager, and reports to the VP Technical Department when the Vessel Manager is on leave. You will maintain equipment inventories, oversee budgets, utilize Fiix CMMS for work orders and upgrades, and ensure repairs are completed promptly.

Qualifications

• 15 years of equipment repair and maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain inventory of all pieces of equipment assigned to the dredge, and their locations, at all times.
• Assist with maintaining a budget for vessels under your Management.
• Work with Technical Coordinator to input work orders into the Fiix CMMS system to request repair spare parts, critical spares, PM and CM services, as well as budget and request equipment for upgrades of the dredges.
• Manage and oversee the repair and maintenance program for all equipment on site.
• Maintain all equipment in good operating condition and ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner.
• Keep inventory of critical spares.
• Requisition spare parts and supplies.
• Track and requisition technical consumables, lube, and water for equipment on site.
• Monitor all mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components on the dredge and support equipment.
• Enforce safety rules and regulations regarding equipment condition and interface.
• Ensure the dredge is maintained in accordance with the maintenance program.
• Help coordinate logistics for needed repairs and upgrades.
• Keep and update all Class and ABS documentation.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.

Role and Responsibilities

The position of Port Engineer is to assist the Vessel Manager with the management and oversight of the equipment owned and/or rented by the company. This is a two-and-one schedule whereby the Port Engineer will rotate with the Vessel Manager.

The Port Engineers work together with the Vessel Manager and, while the Vessel Manager is on leave, report directly to the VP Technical Department for equipment-related issues.

For logistic and project-related issues, the Port Engineer reports directly to the Project Manager of the project the equipment is assigned to.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and back in the performance of work.
• Must be able to lift and carry 30lbs individually. Anything greater than 30lbs and up to 60lbs will require additional lifting means.
• Must be able to push and pull at peak force of 150lbs.
• Climbing stairs and/or vertical ladders.
• Working in confined work areas and/or elevated heights.
• Adapting to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration.
