Job summary

Texas Department of Family and Protective Services in Laredo is seeking Conservatorship Workers to serve as conservators of children removed from homes. CPS CVS Specialists support safety, permanency, and court involvement.

New hires with a Master’s in Social Work may qualify for higher pay at hire. Responsibilities include case intake, needs assessment, kinship searches, and collaboration with families and law enforcement.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development and family dynamics.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel to child and family visits, including after 5pm.
• On-call on a rotating basis and able to work irregular hours.
• Experience in social, human, or protective services is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive cases after children are removed from their homes and placed in CPS conservatorship.
• Determine each child’s needs and ensure referrals for testing, evaluations, or records.
• Work with children, families, and communities to plan for permanency.
• Identify kinship resources and complete home studies of kinship providers.
• Attend court hearings and prepare reports to support permanency planning.
• Promote collaboration with law enforcement, judicial officials, and community resources.
