Qualifications

• Indiana LPN or RN license required / preferred.

• Able to teach and certify per AHA requirements.

Role Summary

The Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Instructor performs;Training, Certification & Recertification and RegistrationProgram to ensure that individuals meet American Heart AssociationCPR, AED and first aid training requirements. At a minimum coveringBasic Life Support CPR training, certification, and registrationrequirements.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for conducting CPR classes/training at approvedlocations.
• Curriculum and instruction to align with and be in compliancewith American Heart Association in development and teaching lessonplans covering CPR, AED, first aid, and related safety areas. Whileintegrating theory with practical skills.
• Classroom supervision to include overseeing and guidingstudents during hands-on practice in lab and instructionalsettings, ensuring proper application of skills.
• Student management includes skills training, motivating, andevaluating students from diverse backgrounds, preparing them forthe state certification exam.
• Program coordination and completion including completeregistrations of students in program, maintaining student records,and report on student achievement.
• Provide re/certification training and education to new studentsand approved remedial activities for existing and priorstudents.
• Assist with updates to training curriculums as approved by VUand American Heart Association.
• Maintain up to date files on approved classroom andregistration activities.
• Communicates, with as much lead time as possible, with VUmanagement and students on class schedules, timing and otherchanges.
• Comply with privacy practices and procedures related toclinical records and all state and federal privacy practices andprocedures related to clinical records and all state and federalprivacy laws as outlined by HIPAA.
• Participate in recruitment and retention activities
• Participate in program assessment

Your Qualifications

Essential

• Preferred – Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse(RN) licensed in the state of Indiana
• An approved and active instructor with American HeartAssociation with active training site approval.
• Minimum of one year nursing experience, two years preferred.Substitution of 4 years as a Certified Medical Assistant, EmergencyMedical Technician or similar field requiring active patient caremay be considered.
• Documented proof of completion of an American Heart Associationapproved training course.
• In good standing and meet all other American Heart Associationconditions to teach and certify.
• History of working cohesively and cooperatively in a trainingenvironment.
• Ability to foster a positive learning environment forstudents
• Commitment and desire to go above and beyond to serve ourdiverse community

Supplemental Skills / Experience

• Associate's Degree with LPN or RN licensing preferred
• Experience teaching and training
• Experience with leading training in classroom and testingenvironments
