Job summary

Bear Valley Ski Patrol is seeking dedicated personnel for on-mountain safety and first aid coverage. Responsibilities include providing care to guests, performing opening/closing procedures, and communicating with multiple departments to ensure a safe environment.

Candidates should have EMT/OEC (WEC accepted) and CPR certifications, excellent physical condition, and ability to operate in extreme weather. A strong safety focus and proactive problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• EMT or Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) preferred; Wilderness Emergency Care (WEC) accepted with patient contact experience.
• CPR certification required.
• Strong physical fitness suitable for skiing, hiking, lifting, and snow shoveling.
• Must be able to pass federal/state background checks for explosives use in avalanche mitigation.

Responsibilities

• Commitment to guest satisfaction and high service standards.
• Skiing daily to perform opening and closing procedures on the mountain.
• Coordinate with other departments and share safety information.
• Maintain safe, clean, and professional patrol stations.
• Learn and apply ropes and rope-rescue techniques.
• Keep training records up to date and report to Ski Patrol Director.
• Recordkeeping as per company policy; identify and address safety hazards.
• Communicate weather, grooming, and slope conditions to guests.
• Operate snowmobile safely in varied terrain and conditions.
• Report problems to superiors and complete required check-off sheets.
