Job summary

Bear Valley Mountain Resort Llc is seeking terrain park attendants to maintain and construct features, monitor rider safety, and educate guests on proper use of the terrain park. The role requires skiing or snowboarding in varied conditions and daily inspection and repair to keep features safe and enjoyable.

Attendants will work outdoors in all weather, with duties including setup and teardown of park features, tool maintenance, and close collaboration with ski patrol.

Qualifications

• Ability to ski or snowboard in adverse conditions on steep terrain.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular maintenance of terrain park features, boundary ropes, and signage using snow rakes, shovels, and drills.
• Prepare terrain park to be opened each day by setting up signage and boundary ropes, clearing snow, and shaping snow around each feature.
• Prepare terrain park for grooming at the end of each day by removing obstacles and reshaping features.
• Maintain a positive guest experience and model proper terrain park etiquette on the mountain.
• Inspect and test features to ensure no damage and determine maintenance needs.
• Close features when conditions are unsafe for riding.
• Assist in spotting/reporting injuries to ski patrol.
• Other duties as assigned.

As part of our Terrain Park Crew, the attendants are responsible for maintaining and constructing features within the terrain park, ensuring rider safety by monitoring activity, educating guests on proper use of the park, and performing daily inspections and necessary repairs to maintain optimal conditions, all while actively skiing or snowboarding throughout the day; requiring a high level of riding skill and strong understanding of terrain park safety protocols.

Full Time and Part Time positions available.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform regular maintenance of terrain park features, boundary ropes, and signage during operating hours using snow rakes, shovels, and drills
• Prepare terrain park to be opened each day by setting up signage and boundary ropes, clearing fresh snow, and shaping snow around each feature
• Prepare terrain park for grooming at the end of each day by removing any obstacles to snow grooming equipment, and reshaping/rebuilding feature takeoffs
• Maintain a positive guest experience for terrain park users. Act as an ambassador to the public by setting good examples of terrain park etiquette on the mountain.
• Keep track of and maintain tools and equipment (rakes, shovels, drills, radios etc.)
• Inspect and test features in the terrain park to ensure all features are free of damage, and to determine when snow maintenance is required
• Close features as needed when conditions or other circumstances do not allow them to be ridden safely
• Help in spotting/reporting any injuries in the terrain park to ski patrol
• Other duties as assigned

Skills and Competencies

• Intermediate to advanced ability to safely ski or snowboard in adverse conditions and on steep terrain, including freestyle terrain.
• Manual dexterity to operate hand tools such as rakes, shovels, and basic carpentry tools.
• Ability to work outside in ANY AND ALL weather conditions, including but not limited to rain, snow, sleet, high winds, and cold temperatures.
• Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling on a frequent basis.
• Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees

Work Schedules

Weather, snow conditions and the number of guests play a large role intheworkschedulingofBear Valley employees.

When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work 40 up to 48 hours per week,including weekends and holidays. During busy periods – especially the holiday periods in December andthemonthsofJanuaryandFebruary–youmaybeexpectedtoworksix(6)daysa week.

You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arriveatyourdesignatedworkstationat the scheduled time.Keep in mind that you will oftenberequiredtodriveonhilly,snowpacked, and icy road.

Working Conditions

Atanytimeduringtheskiseason,BearValleyemployeesareoftenrequiredtoperformtheir tasks in high winds, heavy snowfalls, low visibility, rain, and extremely cold or warm temperatures.

Uniforms

A professional appearance at Bear Valley is required. Please wear your name tag and uniform at all times during your scheduled shift. We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job. This uniform is for work hours ONLY, no exceptions.

You will be required to provide some items as part of your job.

The quality, color, and style of the items must be approved by your manager prior to being worn to work. All hats worn must have the Bear Valley logo while on shift.

The skiing/riding employee represents a model for safe skiing for both the guest and fellow employees. You are required to be aware of all safe skiing procedures, trail closures, and out-of-bounds policies of the mountain.
