Job summary

Bear Valley Mountain Resort Llc is seeking seasonal and full/part-time snowmaking staff to operate and maintain snowmaking equipment, relocate guns and hoses, and perform routine maintenance. The role requires adherence to safety procedures and coordination with other mountain operations teams to ensure optimal snow conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Learn, operate and maintain snowmaking equipment.
  • Relocate snow guns and hoses to various mountain areas.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs on snowmaking equipment.
  • Maintain hydrants, pedestals and padding around snowmaking equipment.
  • Operate high-voltage equipment and high-pressure water systems with safety procedures.
  • Complete daily work, maintenance and safety logs.
  • Operate snowmobiles and/or side-by-sides after safety/ops training.
  • Adhere to Mountain Operations and Snowmaking safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with grooming, snow removal and terrain park teams.

Job description

Our Snowmaking team maintains the snow guns, hoses, hydrant and pumping stations when snowmaking is operational. This job involves working as part of a team to open and maintain skiing terrain with the best possible snow that can be created.

Full Time and Part Time positions available.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learn, operate and maintain relevant snowmaking equipment.
  • Frequent relocation of snowmaking guns and hoses to various areas around the mountain.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs on snowmaking equipment as needed.
  • Maintain snowmaking hydrants, pedestals and padding around all snowmaking equipment.
  • Operate high-voltage equipment and high-pressure water systems utilizing appropriate safety procedures and processes outlined by Bear Valley Resort.
  • Complete daily work, maintenance, and safety logs.
  • Operates snowmobiles and/ or side by sides after safety and operations training supplied by Bear Valley Resorts.
  • Comply with all Mountain Operations and Snowmaking safety procedures.
  • Working with and assisting other Mountain Operations departments such as grooming, snow removal and terrain park.
Skills and Competencies
  • Must be able to operate a snowmobile or other all-terrain vehicles.
  • Must have the ability to hike for sustained periods of time at a high elevation and in inclement, unpredictable and cold weather conditions, at night.
  • Must have the mechanical ability to troubleshoot and/or recognize minor snowmaking equipment malfunctions.
  • Requires interpersonal skills to work closely with other snowmakers.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be available to work any day of the week including weekends and holidays as well as swing and night shifts up to 12 hours.
Work Schedules

Weather, snow conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Bear Valley employees.

When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work 40 up to 48 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. During busy periods - especially the holiday periods in December and the months of January and February - you may be expected to work six (6) days a week.

You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snowpacked, and icy road.

Working Conditions

At any time during the ski season, Bear Valley employees are often required to perform their tasks in high winds, heavy snowfalls, low visibility, rain, and extremely cold or warm temperatures.

Uniforms

A professional appearance at Bear Valley is required. Please wear your name tag and uniform at all times during your scheduled shift. We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job. This uniform is for work hours ONLY, no exceptions.

You will be required to provide some items as part of your job.

The quality, color, and style of the items must be approved by your manager prior to being worn to work. All hats worn must have the Bear Valley logo while on shift.

The skiing/riding employee represents a model for safe skiing for both the guest and fellow employees. You are required to be aware of all safe skiing procedures, trail closures, and out-of-bounds policies of the mountain.
