Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking a Physician Practice Coder to perform detailed CPT and ICD-10 coding reviews, ensuring accurate charge capture and compliance with coding guidelines. The role works closely with revenue cycle stakeholders to analyze denials, perform root cause analysis, and provide feedback to providers.

The position requires 2–5 years in a multi-specialty physician coding environment, CPC certification, and strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4/HCPCS.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree (or equivalent work experience)
• 2-5 years in a multi-specialty physician coding environment
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT-4/HCPCS and coding guidelines

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient medical records and abstracts medical data identifying diagnoses and procedures.
• Codes diagnoses, procedures, and modifiers from documentation using ICD-10-CM, CPT-4/HCPCS.
• References encoding systems and coding aids to ensure accurate billing.
• Sequences diagnoses and procedures per ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, UHDDS and regulatory guidelines.
• Adheres to official coding guidelines and coding clinics as applicable.
• Consults with CDSI team to clarify medical record information.
• Maintains productivity and coding credentials through ongoing education.
• Responds to coding questions and ensures billed services are accurately coded.
