Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a skilled Medical Coder to review physician records and ensure accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4/HCPCS coding and charge capture. You will perform chart audits, respond to coding questions, and collaborate with revenue cycle stakeholders to address denials and improve documentation.

The role requires an Associate degree (or equivalent), 2–5 years in a multi-specialty coding environment, and CPC certification. Strong knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality is essential.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or direct work experience equivalent to at least 2 years.
• 2–5 years of coding experience in a multi-specialty physician environment.
• CPC certification (CPC or CPC-A) required or preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4/HCPCS and related guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Review patient records to abstract diagnoses and procedures.
• Code diagnoses, procedures, and modifiers using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4/HCPCS.
• Consult coding aids and reference materials to ensure accurate billing.
• Sequence codes according to ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, UHDDS, and payer guidelines.
• Maintain productivity, accuracy, and HIPAA compliance.
• Collaborate with Revenue Cycle to address denials and root causes.
