Qualifications

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • At least one year of specialized experience involving keyboard use, basic rules, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in a professional manner.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Dependability, reliability, and good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Record verbatim court proceedings using electronic sound recording equipment and play back as required.
  • Ensure recording equipment is in working order; notify IT for maintenance needs.
  • Set up and arrange equipment in the courtroom.
  • Create electronic log notes of proceedings and participants.
  • Review transcripts to ensure compliance with format standards.
  • Prepare thumb drives for transcription and monitor delivery of transcripts.
  • Receive/process thumb drives and transcript production orders.
  • Inventory and control recording equipment; request supplies as needed.
  • Assist courtroom deputy with duties such as administering oaths, handling exhibits, and calling the calendar.
  • Operate a variety of office equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
