Job summary

The State of Maine Judicial Branch in Lewiston is seeking a detail-oriented SC/VB Assistant Clerk. This Limited Term role combines call-center, clerical, and court-support duties in the Service Center/Violations Bureau, with emphasis on customer service and accurate data handling.

Candidates should have strong computer and communication skills, experience with court databases, and the ability to work under deadlines. Partial remote work may be available after training.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or GED.
• Experience providing customer service or clerical work.
• Ability to keyboard 45 wpm and handle basic math.

Responsibilities

• Answer high-volume calls for trial courts and Violations Bureau.
• Use MEJIS, Enterprise Justice, and other databases to respond to inquiries.
• Provide courteous information to judges, attorneys, litigants and agencies.
• Prepare juror correspondence and manage related records.
• Support courtroom operations, including remote proceedings and recording equipment.
• Process data entry, docketing, mail, and revenue where applicable.
