Midland County News is seeking a detail-oriented public information clerk responsible for greeting the public, processing warrants, and facilitating the collection of fines and court costs for Midland County.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred, and the ability to conduct in-person interviews, verify information with Omnibase and Accurint, and handle confidential financial data with accuracy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
• Broad knowledge in collections techniques, and customer service.
• Working knowledge of computer programs and office procedures.
• Proper use of lektreiver, copier, 10-key, multi-line telephone, and shredder.
• Knowledge of collections/accounts receivables, working with automated collections systems, and dealing with customers in person is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates the collection of fines, fees, and court costs for Midland County.
• Conducts in-person interviews with defendants, reviews payment plan applications, determines financial ability to pay and payment schedule.
• Uses Omnibase, Accurint, and property records to verify information.
• Performs collections work on delinquent dockets, documents all collection efforts and contacts.
• Tracks and monitors payment of fines, fees, and court costs.
• Handles public contact responsibilities, including adverse and confrontational situations on the phone and in person.
• Confirms and processes warrants, pre-warrants, and recalls for all courts.
• Runs daily deposits for all courts.
• Maintains and organizes files for all courts.
• Processes and sets up payment plans for county and district.
• Processes mail daily.
• Ensures regular and timely attendance.
