Job summary

Genesee County Circuit Court is seeking a Public Engagement Specialist within the Legal Records Division. The role involves responsibilities across court records maintenance, public access support, and data handling under supervision of the Operations and Public Engagement Manager.

The position requires two years of relevant experience or equivalent courtroom clerical work with typing proficiency, and involves duties such as juror handling and case documentation.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years' experience as a Public Engagement Specialist.
• -OR- Two (2) years' experience working in a courtroom as a court clerk and the ability to type 30 net w.p.m.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the selection and swearing in of jurors and maintains required information.
• May be required to officially record all verdicts, motions, sentences and other court proceedings.
• May be required to work at the point of public access, assisting court users.
• May be required to answer both case specific and general questions.
• Prepares case files to be reviewed by a Judge.
• Organizes, files, scans and indexes case information.
• Responds to correspondence relative to copies of requested files.
• Maintains court files in compliance with case management standards.
• Utilizes computers for data input, data retrieval and word processing.
