Job summary

Flour Bakery + Cafe is seeking exceptional counter staff for full and part time positions at the Boston location. You will greet guests, assemble pastry orders, and prepare coffee and espresso drinks while maintaining outstanding hospitality.

Qualifications

• Availability for at least 3 shifts per week and one weekend day.
• Ability to stand, move, lift up to 50 lbs and operate cafe equipment.
• Enthusiastic, dependable, eager to learn and deliver hospitality.
• Previous cafe counter/FOH or prep cook experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests, assist with pastry orders, and prepare coffee and espresso drinks.
• Take catering orders and help prepare sandwiches as needed.
• Maintain high guest-service standards in a fast-paced team.
• Support other departments as needed and show initiative.

Counter Staff - Flour Brigham - 1 Brigham Circle, Boston, MA

If so, we have the opportunity for you! Flour Bakery + Cafe is looking for exceptional counter staff for full and part time positions!

You'll be greeting and helping guests, putting pastry orders together, preparing coffee and espresso drinks, taking catering orders, potentially helping prepare sandwiches, and more - all while displaying an amazing sense of hospitality to our guests.

Day-to-day Performance Expectations:

We ask that you have availability for at least 3-4 shifts a week, including at least 1 weekend day.

Must be able to deliver consistently great hospitality:

Engage our guests at Flour by greeting them, smiling, treating them with kindness, directing them through the order process, and finding the correct answers to any of their questions

Applicants must be enthusiastic, hard-working, possess strong guest service skills, eager to learn, and be able to work in a professional kitchen environment.

Previous bakery/cafe counter staff, barista, other restaurant front of house, or prep cook experience is helpful, but not mandatory.

Skills for Qualification:

• Must have scheduling availability to work at least 3 shifts/20 hours per week and at least one weekend shift
• Ability to stand for long periods, walk, push, pull, reach, and lift < 50 lbs.
• Ability to operate equipment such as a cash register, coffee and espresso machinery, grinders, etc.
• Must be able to maintain grooming and uniform standards
• Excellent sense of urgency and hospitality
• Ability to recognize when and where help is needed
• Ability to take feedback and direction
• Willingness to work in a team and help all other departments, as needed

Work Environment:

• Must be able to work in an environment with loud noises, machinery, and at times, tight spaces.
• Must be able to work around various aromas and fluctuating temperatures
• We do our best not to cross-contaminate anything containing gluten. However, there may be gluten in the air at times. We do our best to accommodate any staff allergy requests.

We ask for a minimum commitment of six months for FOH employees. Unfortunately, we do not offer seasonal or temporary work.

Compensation:

This position has an average starting compensation of $20-$24 per hour (base wage of $15 + $5-9 per hour in pooled tips). The starting pay rate for this position is $15, but the total pay range is $15-$19.32.
