Job Summary

Kurtz is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-oriented Counter Sales/Receptionist who enjoys interacting with people. This role serves as the initial point of contact for the company, providing exceptional customer service and sales support for commercial doors, hardware, and related products. The ideal candidate will have sales and customer service experience, keen attention to detail, and knowledge of products like Steelcraft, Republic, Ceco, Curries.

Accountability Measures
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the company's products and industry trends.
  • Process sales transactions accurately via cash, card, check, and invoicing.
  • Handle customer returns and exchanges per company policies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized counter/showroom, including product displays.
  • Assist with product inquiries, including commercial doors, frames, and hardware.
  • Support sales targets and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Greet customers professionally at the sales counter or phone, ensuring a welcoming experience.
  • Assist customers in selecting products based on needs and project specs.
  • Answer and direct incoming calls appropriately.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff on stock availability.
  • Notify relevant teams of low stock or special orders.
  • Support administrative tasks and maintain customer records.
  • Build positive relationships with customers and vendors.
Skills and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications are a plus.
  • Experience in commercial doors, hardware, sales, or customer service required.
  • Knowledge of construction terminology and product specs is advantageous.
  • Friendly, professional, with problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to read technical specs and blueprints (preferred).
  • Ability to lift light to medium items.
Work Environment
  • Primarily in showroom, sales counter, or office setting.
  • Occasional walking to warehouse or lifting items for orders.
