Job summary

Butler Supply Inc is seeking a customer service–oriented associate to assist customers at the counter, process orders, and support branch operations. You will answer questions, provide information, and help drive sales through add-ons and up selling.

The role involves accurate order entry, quotes, and coordinating with inventory and pricing, while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. A positive, team-focused attitude is essential for success in our relaxed, family-owned setting.

Qualifications

Knowledge of electrical and/or plumbing products strongly preferred.
Strong attention to detail.
Able to juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Customer service attitude, friendly demeanor.
Effective time management, organization skills.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Must have or be able to obtain, a Class E (Chauffer's) license.
Good driving record.
Ability to exude professionalism, tact, diplomacy and sensitivity when dealing with customers, employees, internal associates at all levels.
Capable of preserving confidential or sensitive information.
Team player, able to work well under pressure.
Appropriate computer aptitude.

Responsibilities

Promptly assist customers at counter and provide information as needed.
Conduct sales efforts in an ethical and professional manner and maintain a positive attitude.
Enter customer orders, transfers, quotations, inventory and pricing information.
Follow-up on orders and resolve issues to customer satisfaction.
Answer phones professionally and assist customers with orders and inquiries.
Provide product/job quotes as appropriate.
Perform administrative tasks such as cash handling, deposits and reporting.
Keep product knowledge up-to-date and locate merchandise in the warehouse.
Communicate policies and procedures regarding purchases, returns, terms, etc.
Accurately fill orders and retrieve materials.
Check-in and store incoming material and maintain clean aisles.
Maintain branch appearance and cleanliness.
Report back orders and product discrepancies.
Perform cycle counts.
Work safely and inform supervisor of hazards.
Assist in year-end inventories.
Perform other duties as directed.
