Publican Quality Meats is seeking a Retail Butcher to join our team of industry veterans. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain high quality and consistency in all back-of-house processes.
- Lead by example, teaching staff proper techniques and execution.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and farmers.
- Focus on improving food costs.
- Ensure proper product rotation, utilization, and inventory management to minimize waste.
- Assist with purchasing and oversee usage of back-of-house supplies.
- Resolve guest complaints politely and professionally.
- Communicate effectively with BOH managers, supervisors, and FOH managers.
- Support other staff members during absences or busy times, including working on the line during slower seasons.
Additional Responsibilities for Upstairs Butcher
- Interact with guests and utilize the Point-of-Sale system efficiently.
- Maintain quality standards for cured, fresh, deli meats, cheeses, and bread displays.
- Proficiently operate equipment such as bread slicers, deli slicers, knives, toasters, stoves, band saws, meat grinders, and other fabricating tools.
- Carry products and work in tight quarters with other staff members.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Food Handler Certification
- Ability to handle stress and work under pressure
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy work environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to coordinate multiple tasks
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Flexibility and openness to various job demands
- Ability to operate all necessary equipment
- Ability to lift and handle items weighing 0-50 pounds
- Availability to work varied hours and days as needed
- Ability to stand for 8-10 hours a day
- Tolerance of potential allergens including peanuts, eggs, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish
