Job Summary

Meat & Seafood Team Members are responsible for providing customers with exceptional service. They advise and prepare orders at the service counter or for self-service displays. They ensure high standards in receiving, unloading, storage, rotating, merchandising, and building displays within their department. They act as role models, exemplifying Pete’s Four Pillars of Value: Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  1. Stock meat cases, ensuring presentation, organization, and pricing accuracy.
  2. Maintain cleanliness and safety in meat aisles, storage, and work areas.
  3. Monitor meat product rotation, paying attention to expiration dates.
  4. Assist customers with inquiries, purchases, and product selection, including selling and cross-selling.
  5. Receive, inspect, and log products for shipment accuracy, temperature, and quality.
  6. Operate equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, and pallet jacks safely.
  7. Maintain proper temperatures during meat and seafood production.
  8. Cut, tray, and package meat and seafood products as required.
  9. Organize and rotate products in coolers and freezers.
  10. Accurately weigh, label, package, and follow dating procedures for products.
  11. Prepare specialty meat and seafood products per company recipes and standards.
  12. Follow safety practices, including the use of mesh gloves when handling knives.
  13. Participate in pre-inventory and back stock preparation.
  14. Maintain high product knowledge and presentation standards.
  15. Ensure the department maintains a clean, organized, and sanitary appearance.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent, with 2+ years of experience preferred.
  • Completion of journeyman cutter or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of meat processing, safety, and health regulations.
  • Proficiency with knives, scales, and meat machinery.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs., stand for long periods, and work in cold environments.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Work Environment

Frequent exposure to cold temperatures in coolers and freezers, physical demands include lifting, pushing, and standing for extended periods. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, is required.
