Butcher in the Meat/Seafood Department.

Job Summary

Meat & Seafood Team Members provide exceptional customer service, advise, and prepare orders at the service counter or for self-service displays. They ensure proper receiving, unloading, storage, rotation, merchandising, and display of products, embodying Pete’s Four Pillars of Value: Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service.

Essential Responsibilities
  1. Stock meat cases, ensuring presentation, organization, and accurate pricing.
  2. Maintain cleanliness and safety in meat aisles and storage areas.
  3. Monitor product rotation and expiration dates.
  4. Assist customers with inquiries, purchases, and product information.
  5. Receive, inspect, and log shipments, ensuring quality and temperature standards.
  6. Operate equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, and pallet jacks.
  7. Maintain proper temperatures during production and storage.
  8. Cut, tray, and package meat and seafood products as per standards.
  9. Prepare specialty products following Pete’s recipes.
  10. Follow safety practices, including the use of mesh gloves.
  11. Participate in inventory prep and maintain product knowledge.
  12. Ensure the department is organized and sanitary.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent, with 2+ years of experience preferred.
  • Completion of journeyman cutter or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Customer service skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
  • Knowledge of health regulations, weights/measures, and meat machinery.
  • Physical ability to stand, lift, and work in coolers/freezers.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work flexible hours.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting up to 75 lbs., working in temperature-controlled environments, and standing for long periods.
