Job Overview

Position: Faculty – Counselor Education (temporary lecturer). Responsible for teaching undergraduate or graduate courses, providing fieldwork supervision, maintaining office hours, collaborating with faculty, and contributing to course assessment and accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in counseling and guidance, conduct classroom instruction, and hold regular office hours.
• Provide fieldwork or internship supervision as needed.
• Collaborate with faculty, chair, and staff to plan curriculum and assessment.
• Organize classes within the Canvas Learning Management System and ensure scheduled delivery in all assignment modes (asynchronous, synchronous, hybrid, in‑person).
• Address the diverse needs of students (age, culture, ethnicity, language, etc.) through inclusive materials and teaching strategies.
• Participate in course assessment and accreditation activities.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited university.
• Professional experience: 2 years as teacher, college instructor, or professional practitioner in counseling, education, or human services contexts (for undergraduate courses).
• For graduate-level courses: 2 years post‑master’s teaching experience as instructor of record or 2 years professional experience in relevant contexts.
• For fieldwork/internship supervision courses: California Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC) or California clinical license (e.g., LPCC, LCSW, MFT, CADCA, CADC‑I, CADC‑II, LAADC) and 2 years post‑master’s professional practitioner experience.
• Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to multicultural educational goals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Terminal degree (Ed.D., Ph.D.) in Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field, or ABD.
• Professional supervisory experience in education, counseling, or human services.
• California PPSC or clinical license.
• Expertise in subject matter and ability to instruct and evaluate students.
• Experience teaching diverse populations and evidence of successful work with them.
• Proficiency with Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, etc.

Compensation

Compensation and salary placement are determined by qualifications and experience. Salary ranges (full‑time academic year) are as follows:

• L‑A/Range 2: $5,507 – $5,959 per month
• L‑B/Range 3: $6,221 – $7,481 per month
• L‑C/Range 4: $6,825 – $9,431 per month
• L‑D/Range 5: $8,593 – $10,347 per month

Monthly rates are multiplied by 12 to calculate the annual salary. Part‑time rates are prorated.
