The vision of the Department of Psychology at San Jose State University (SJSU) is to provide high-quality education in psychology that fosters the development of students so that they will make worthy contributions to society. We value a student-centered approach that emphasizes teaching, research, and applied training. The Department offers the following degrees: B.A. Psychology, M.S. in Clinical Psychology, M.S. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and M.A. in Research and Experimental Psychology.
The Department of Psychology invites applicants for a pool of lecturers to teach courses, should the need arise, during the fall or spring semesters. We are seeking instructors with demonstrated, or potential for teaching excellence. Lecturers are expected to work with the Department Chair to ensure their course instruction and materials conform to university and department policies and practices, including holding office hours and participating in performance reviews.
Open positions vary by semester and depend on departmental needs and available funding. The fall semester runs from late August through mid-December; the spring semester runs from mid/late January through mid/late May. Positions generally involve undergraduate classes, though graduate-level instruction may occasionally be available.

Anticipated starting salary:
These salaries are the anticipated monthly rate for full‑time faculty; part‑time rates are prorated. Full‑time annual salary is the monthly rate multiplied by 12.

Faculty employees must complete CSU employee training as assigned and required based on their role (e.g., preventing discrimination and harassment, gender equity and Title IX, health and safety). In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the candidate in this position will be subject to ongoing review for designation as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). Individuals designated as CSAs are required to report Clery incidents to the institution and complete Clery Act training. COVID‑19 safety measures specific to the campus may be required.

Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and is subject to the order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and the California Faculty Association.
