Phoenix House New York is seeking a Counselor for the East Hampton Residential program (Wainscott, NY 11975). The role entails group and individual counseling, treatment planning, and milieu supervision within a values-based, nonprofit setting.

Qualifications

• Required education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) is required.
• Minimum two years in behavioral health/substance use disorder treatment program.
• Trained to dispense medications to clients in case of emergency.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual counseling and recovery plan prep, monitoring and review.
• Facilitate daily living activities, community meetings and treatment planning.
• Provide therapeutic interactions to develop social, cognitive and behavioral skills.
• Supervise milieu staff.
• Provide psychosocial interventions to teach coping skills.
• Deliver individual, group and family counseling.
• Conduct multi-family group counseling.
• Foster social, emotional and behavioral functioning in residents.
• Assist in supervision to establish a proper treatment environment.
• Prepare and maintain case records.
• Assist in medication room in emergencies.
